Rough Draft Video Storyboard

Here is a rough storyboard I have for my video project. I am currently working on film and the order of all the information acquired. I am excited that I get the opportunity to working with a Tesla product. The are quite the machines that everyone says they are. For more information about the car, check out my storyboard to get a rough idea what parts of the vehicle will be discussed in the video.

Video Reviews

The first video I will be discussing is Glory At Sea. The story that the video is giving is that basically this guy makes a boat out of scrap laying around. His goal is to find his loved ones lost at sea. It turns out many other people go with him to find their loved ones as well. We see a lot of underwater scenes and the landscape that the setting offers. It looks like some type of storm or natural disaster has occurred (Hurricane Katrina). I think the video gives the reader a great sense of what is happening. Some tips I have picked up is the way this was videoed. The detail that was put into the video was amazing.

The second video I did was the poem One Art. This poem resembles the "mastering of losing". She mentions a lot of different things that she loses in her lifetime. The genre taken here is the form of a video poem. The images that are added within video gave the reader a good representation of things being lost. For example, trees losing their leaves and flowers losing life. The background noise and music make the poem more sympathetic since things are being lost. The tip I will take from this video is again the video skills and quality. The pictures referring to exactly everything that is being said.

The last video is Lick The Star. Lick The Star basically tells the story of how the popular girl (Chloe) can go from the top to rock bottom instantly. Everyone wanted to be like Chloe. She dressed more risqué. She wore dark lipstick. She even smoked. The video seems to be taking place in the 1990's. It's in black and white and the fashion seems to have that vibe. The genre could possibly be like a documentary about the group of friends of Chloe and Chloe herself. The video tells a great story itself and that is the biggest tip I will pick up from this video. Also the video editing and script is set up very well.

Reverse Engineering

Watching Lick the Star by Sophia Coppola is trying the put the idea of a normal seventh grade class. We have a cool girl that everyone wants to be like and her name is Chole. Chole thinks she is he queen of the school. She smokes to be "cool". Also, she has her own little group of friends. Chole is the one who can get away with anything she wants.Kate is an innocent girl who wants to fit in with Chole. Kate wants to do everything that Chole and her friends do. For example, Kate gets caught smoking and gets in trouble with the school for doing it.

Chole wants to poison kids at her school using rat poison. The code name that they use is called "lick the star". Chole gets her role changed near the end of the story. She gets made fun off for using the term "lick the star" and people find out that she is trying to use rat poison on them. Chole then tries to drown herself in her bathtub but fails to do so. She mentions at the end how "the tables have turned".

One of the books that was in the story that could be in the authors database is Flowers in the Attic. This is where they get the term "lick the star" in the first place. I love the fact that the video itself was in black and white. It gave the story a vintage vibe to it. Along with the music gave the story the same vibe. With Chole being the star in the school, I like how they made everyone in the story seem so innocent and seem like they are actually in the seventh grade. Compared to Chole she had on dark lipstick and smoking and she acted "older" in a way with everything she was doing and how she dressed.

The Process for Producing a Podcast

Making a Podcast for Digital Storytelling has been quite the experience for me. This Podcast that I am creating for this class is the very first one I am producing. I have been listening to podcasts, on the daily, to get different ideas to make a proficient podcast.

 I have always hated hearing my voice over a speaker so that was an obstacle itself for me to overcome. When I did the recording itself I thought it would be awkward to start out with and it was. Once I finally started talking and asking questions about the topic in my podcast it seemed like it went very smooth. I listen to the "professional" podcasters like Pat McAfee and he makes it seem so easy. He seems so comfortable when interviewing other people especially. I found out when you talk about something that you like and that you have a lot of knowledge about the topic itself.

After recording this podcast, I have learned that I would love to make these types of podcasts. These people who are professionals, have a very lucky job that they can do. It would be neat to start a channel and upload podcasts on topics of interest that occurs in our daily lives. Even the people who I interviewed said that they all loved doing this podcast. It really changed all of our views about podcasts and the way they are produced.

Podcasts Paragraphs

I have always had a passion for sports. Recently, football has made a lot of chances to the game (all levels) to make the game safer. The first Podcast I chose was "A Star Studded Fantasy Friday" by The Pat McAfee Show. He discusses news that is happening with the NFL specifically. His Podcast style was more of a roundtable setup and sometimes has a special guest within the Podcast. He obtains his information himself by watching most of all the NFL games and through his special guests. Usually, his special guests were an ex-NFL players or some type of announcer for the NFL. The topic worked well within the Podcast he seemed to know what he was talking about. What I could use from this Podcast is possibly the topic. Also, the style and the way the entire Podcast was set up. He makes it simple and it works.

The next Podcast Channel I chose to talk about is "Off The Cuff" by Mike the Cop. I have listen to multiple Podcasts of this guy's channel. He talks about many different kinds of things. Mike is a cop in the state of Michigan, so man topics of his Podcasts are police related. He also discusses a lot of what is going on in the news today. For example, his newest podcast is discussing the Kavanaugh situation that is currently happening. The way he obtains his information is through his police career and also through his special guests that are featured in the podcast. Again, his style of podcast is the round able setup. He talks about topics with different people and haves a conversation about it. Some tips I picked out of this was to get people who are aware about the topic of discussion and understand what's going on.

The last Podcast I chose to talk about is "Elon Musk" by The Joe Rogan Experience. Joe Rogan is someone I listen to on the daily. I like his topics he talks about with his special guests. I like this one specifically because he discusses different business events and everything like that. What caught my attention was the discussion about Tesla and they talk about the products of Tesla. They talk about like the autonomous modes of the Tesla vehicles. This Podcast is an informative style with a roundtable setup. This is how Joe obtains his information. He has guests who are experts in the fields. The tips I get out of this podcast is the style and the way his podcasts are set up. They are having a conversation and it makes it sound natural.

Soaring Rain

During the summer and fall time of 2018, one of the problems that Mother Nature threw at us is excessive amounts of rainfall. It has seemed like there were points where it would rain everyday for 2 weeks straight.

 I live in Bedford County about 15 minutes outside of the actual town. I live near many different types of waterways from big to little. Many of these streams in the photos range anywhere between 15 to 40 feet in width. When the water would rise faster than the stream could drain it. These pictures are more focused toward the aftermath of the high waters in my area. These pictures were taken approximately a week after the high waters.



Reynoldsdale, Pa

Reynoldsdale, Pa : The running water from the nearby streams has caused the plants, in these two fields, on both sides of the road, to lay flat on the ground.



Cessna, Pa

Cessna, Pa : These two pictures from both sides of a bridge, with vegetation and trees standing no chance with the fast moving rapids.

Cessna, Pa : High waters have washed debris, such as tress and stone, down stream.

Reynoldsdale, Pa

Reynoldsdae, Pa : Both taken from the back yard in a campground.

Reynoldsdale, Pa : Residents were forced to park vehicles on higher ground to prevent flood damage.



Osterburg, Pa : Local pumpkin fields and other crops were damaged from the flooding.



New Paris, Pa : This tree has been uprooted from the rainfall and heavy force of wind caused by the storms.

Osterburg, Pa : Debris washed up into people's yard, making it hard for residents to maintain a neat form of landscape.

Here are some photos for my photo essay. My photo essay will be discussing the aftermath of the  areas near where I live (Bedford County). The time span is about a week after the high waters. The streams are still currently high due to the constant rainfall
we've been having.

Photo Essay Idea

I am a commuter here at UPJ, so I live in Bedford County, about 15 minutes from the town of Bedford. Since we have had all this rain, areas that are near me have had flooding problems and different damages from trees, water, etc. My idea for this photo essay is to photograph the damages and debris. There were many different road ways closed that have affected traveling for many people. 

The way that I am going to go with the story is to show the damages that rainfall can do. When we got an extreme amount of rain in a very short period of time, our waterways have filled up quick, to the point where they would overflow.Many may think that water can only flood and just flow around everything. After seeing some of the flooding clear up, it was truly amazing to me the amount of debris and damage that was caused.

My World

You are about to enter my very own form of "Paradise". My own world is covered with a variety of vegetation, trees, flowers, animals, bodies of water etc... The first part of my world shall start out at a beach, with the weather neither too hot or too cold. As you are in my world the waves will create a soothing noise that will just delete the worries out of your mind. You shall feeling the fine sand form around your bare feet. On this beach you will find your very own personal gym and your own personal tiki bar and grill both playing the music you can just simply relax to.

This world will include other people but conflict is non-existent. The "awkward" moments between people do not exist as well. This will give people to socialize with out a problem. This will be a world where everyone will want to help everyone they can and not be selfish. These people could be laying in hammocks reading or simply just walking and socializing.

In this world, you will be able to take a boat or helicopter to any location your mind may imagine. For me, I would want to take a boat and discover the water. I would make sure the boat has all of my friends and family on it. I would want to fish off of the side of the boat and feel the salt air on my skin. Also with the smell of charcoal burning from the grill and steaks simmering in the background noise. As you hear the motor of the boat turn on, you may hear the water slam up against the boat as we coast forward and drive off into the sunset reflecting against the ocean.

In class, we mentioned how a story has a transition along with characters and setting. With this world you could have a person who has bad habits and may need to get on the right path in life. This person could perhaps meet a significant other or friend to "change" them.

About Me

For something that one may call an "adventure" I may call "getting lost" especially away from reality. I have always been a person that loves to be outdoors. So I do love to hunt, fish, hike, you name it. There is something about the wilderness that makes you just look at the bigger picture in life. I try to be a laid back or go with the flow type of person.

At the same time, I have always been a lover for technology. The biggest thing I would say that I like the most about it is overall it can make life so easy. For example, typing papers and/or notes can be done so much faster and more legible. Another example I will use is my Amazon Echo. I can tell my Alexa to do anything from waking me up at a certain time to turning my lights on and off. It is so nice to have any information with a simple voice command of Alexa.

With this type of technology being offered today this makes me wonder what kind will be offered in the future. I have always been curious to what technology will bring to us. Will it help us with our daily lives? Or will it come back to bite us in the end?

What Interests Me

I have always loved playing all kinds of videos on every platform possible. I have found it interesting discovering virtual worlds and controlling the character within the game.With the gaming industry progressing over time, more games are being developed and the way they are being played is advancing. I do love to play games such as Fortnite. With my lack of skill involving this game is frustrating at times, so I had to think of a better solution to this problem. This is where I was introduced to Twitch.

To those who do not know what Twitch is, it is an app or a website that lets the user watch someone who plays video games that are called "Streamers". Twitch is sort of like YouTube in a way or it is live streaming right to the viewer. Streamers who do use Twitch can receive an income from playing video games. Like YouTube, the income is based on subscribers and ads that are on the channel. People who watch the streamers are in basically a chat room and can talk to other viewers or even the streamer.

Since I like playing Fortnite I have decided to look up streamers and the most popular one was Ninja(Tyler Blevins). Ninja is a professional gamer who plays many first and third person shooter games such as Halo, Fortnite, and many more. I figured since I am not the best at playing Fortnite then I might as well watch someone who is. Ninja is just one of the many popular Fortnite players that broadcast their game play through Twitch.
